Shopping for someone as thoughtful and stylish as an issue of Kindling Quarterly, the Brooklyn-based magazine for dads that launched this winter, is challenging. That's why we went straight to the brains behind the operation for last-minute Father's Day gift inspiration.
Dads and Kindling co-publishers David Michael Perez and August Heffner -- the magazine's editor and creative director, respectively -- and Perez's wife, Molly O'Rourke (also a creative director at the magazine), put together a list of "new classics" for HuffPost Parents with a helping hand from Perez's sister-in-law and Where Do You Go To creative director Julie O'Rourke.
"We feel these items would appeal to a new dad in his late 20s as well as men in their 50s," Perez, who has an 11-month-old son, explained in an email. The choices have personal significance, too: Perez says he uses the Santa Maria Russian Cologne every day, and is buying Andrew Solomon's book, Far From The Tree, for his own dad. (As for himself, he's hoping to unwrap a pocketknife of the sort illustrated on slide 10 this coming Sunday.)
