Kylie Jenner's Look for Rihanna's Diamond Ball May Surprise You

After a week full of lip kit related triumphs and controversial wheelchair-based, butt-baring photographs via Interview magazine, one would think Kylie Jenner would be back to her tried and true skin-baring red carpet ensembles. But her latest look at Rihanna’s annual Diamond Ball was actually surprisingly demure and Old Hollywood for the 18-year-old star.

Not only is the reality star wearing the color of 2016, a subtle baby pink rose quartz, but she’s also very covered up considering her usual event apparel tends to edge more towards high fashion dominatrix than old school glamour. The dress, by young LA-based designer August Getty, features a curve-hugging silhouette, a sweetheart bustier neckline, and harness like straps made out of contrasting silk. The gown’s long, subtly pleated train gives this look the final dose of drama it needs to make it totally King Kylie approved.

This gown feels like a major milestone in the young star’s style evolution. We’ve seen Kylie go from awkward, yet adorable, pre-teen to a street style savant. Now, however, we may be witnessing the next stage of the youngest Jenner’s fashionable transformation into a full blown silver screen siren. But sadly, much like her hair color, this red carpet makeover is probably just another passing teenage fancy.

What do you think of Kylie’s Diamond Ball look? Do you like this more demure style or do you prefer some of her racier ensembles? What would you like to see her wear next?
