Kylie Jenner Pulled Off a Carpet-Chic Look in a Shaggy Hot-Pink Dress

From a plunging Schiaparelli cone-bra gown to a sheer Mugler cutout catsuit, Kylie Jenner has taken Paris Fashion Week by storm this season, sitting front row at all the major shows. She arrived at Balenciaga on Sunday, Oct. 2, dressed in a hard-to-miss ensemble that brought her style streak to a fashionable close.

Drenched in this season's hottest color, hot pink, she wore a long-sleeved maxi dress with the texture of a shaggy carpet. The Balenciaga design looked anything but conventional with its curve-hugging bodice and comfortable silhouette. Taking a style cue from her sister Kim Kardashian, she accessorized with large, futuristic sunglasses featuring round black lenses and curvy white frames. She also threw on a pair of silver hoop earrings and styled her hair into a low ponytail with two curls framing her face. A pair of pointy black boots and a large matching cloud clutch rounded out the look.

Jenner arrived alongside her sister Khloé Kardashian, who also took a page out of Kim's playbook and dressed in an all-black Balenciaga jacket, pantaleggings, dark sunglasses, and an Hourglass bag. Their niece North West was also in attendance, exuding her signature cool aesthetic in distressed denim, an oversize jacket, and slides. Other notable looks included Alexa Demie's sparkly red dress, Barbie Ferreira's black turtleneck number, and Emily Ratajkowski's sporty two-piece set.

Meanwhile, Kanye West opened the Balenciaga runway show in military garb, preceding models who paraded in a series of mostly distressed, seemingly war-torn garments - their hems soaked in muddy water. The 75-look collection was unveiled on a muddy catwalk, conveying Creative Director Demna's outlook on the world in light of the war in Ukraine, rising inequality, an impending climate crisis, and the attack on women's rights.

The staging was meant to challenge the notion of luxury, as Demna explained: "Putting luxury fashion into the box of polished, exclusive, and visually expensive is limited and pretty old school." He described the show as a companion piece to last season's catwalk, which took place in a glass rotunda simulating a giant snow globe and touted trash bags as the new silhouette du jour.

Despite its spot-on execution and message, Demna's show may also resonate as glorifying hardships during such sensitive times. Fashion, after all, is a reflection of society, but it often has the unintended effect of commodifying lived experiences.

Ahead, catch a glimpse of the collection, see what shoppable pieces the celebrities wore, and then check out every look from Jenner at Paris Fashion Week.
