Kristen Stewart has had a very busy 2015. From Still Alice to American Ultra, the actress has been in no-stop projects mode. But her latest gig? A Karl Lagerfeld-directed film, titled Once and Forever, set to debut this December.

Stewart stars in the 11-minute short film directed by Lagerfeld, playing a young version of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in a fictionalized biopic of the late designer. Also starring in the film is Geraldine Chaplin, who portrays a middle-age Chanel.
And according to Lagerfeld, Stewart was his only choice for the younger role.
“I think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation,” Lagerfeld told WWD. “She gives the right emotion and the right intensity immediately so it’s very easy to work her, like it’s easy to work with Geraldine.”
Only a few short clips of the film have been released, but from the preview shots, Stewart channels a young actress with diva tendencies and raises hell while on set of her latest film.
And according to the actress, during filming, there weren’t any scripts to memorize — Lagerfeld gave the actors their lines as they went along.
“We didn’t receive scripts,” Stewart told the publication. “From the outside it looked as though Karl was making it up as we went. And maybe he was.”

Once and Forever is the twentieth Chanel-centric mini movie Lagerfeld has created since 2008, according to WWD. Previous Chanel muses, including Keira Knightley and Cara Delevingne, have starred in Lagerfeld’s films, and the designer claims that his creations top any other biopics created recently.
“They’re all horrible,” Lagerfeld said. “All my movies about Chanel are better than the biopics, just like the Saint Laurent movies. I could make a better one because I knew it.”
But that doesn’t mean the designer has plans to write a full feature film. “If I have feature-length time. I’m easily bored so if I have to do it like the others in three months, forget it.”
Once and Forever will premiere at the fashion house’s next Métiers d’Arts show on Dec. 1 at the Cinecittà in Rome, but if you can’t wait until then, you can get a sneak peek here.
