When Kim Kardashian hit the Met Gala red carpet Monday, the reaction from PEOPLE readers was, shall we say, underwhelming. Nearly 1500 people clicked the “angry face” and more than 400 people weighed in on the bold look, which consisted of a head-to-toe laced turtleneck gown with attached, matching gloves and shoes in the same floral fabric.
Well, the designer, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, heard your criticism, and he thinks you’re crazy.
“People can say what they want … I think she looked amazing,” Tisci told WWD. “She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career.”
He also explained how he came up with the concept for her controversial rose-print gown. “I said, we should give her our punk moment with a romantic beautiful flower-printed dress,” he said. “To me, pregnancy is the most beautiful thing in the world, and when you celebrate something, you give people flowers.”
And Tisci is just as excited for the upcoming Kim and Kanye collaboration as we are. “She is the future wife of a really good friend of mine. I wanted to have a moment of family … Kim, Kanye and the baby. It will be a family that I will be close to.” Hopefully that means we can look forward to onesies with matching gloves!
Tell us: Do you agree with Tisci about Kardashian’s gown?
