Katy Perry was made for Barbiecore. The "Where We Started" singer showed her dedication to the fashion trend in a hot-pink latex dress and matching puffer jacket at the True Colors Festival in Tokyo on Nov. 20. Perry's coordinating neon separates hail from a Parisian latex atelier called Avellano. While the brand specializes in custom pieces, her look was ready to wear right after debuting on the spring 2023 runways.
Perry's floor-length neon gown was tight around the top and got progressively looser toward the bottom. While the silhouette dress hugged Perry's form, the puffer coat added a layer of whimsy, volume, and, of course, warmth. The outerwear featured silver buttons down the front, along with a few long dart-like studs that can be opened and closed to inflate or deflate the jacket.
Per usual, the pop star tapped celebrity stylist Tatiana Waterford to assemble her performance look. You might recognize Waterford's work from Perry's trifecta of denim outfits at the CMAs, her Y2k-approved lace-up pants and corset top on "American Idol," or her silicone dress in the "When I'm Gone" music video.
Perry's entire team worked in peak form to complete her look. To round out the pink matching set, celebrity hairstylist Rick Henry styled Perry's hair in half-up space buns, and makeup artist Michael Anthony swiped on neon winged eyeliner that matched the hue of her outfit.
You can shop Perry's Avellano dress and puffer ahead, if you so please.
