Just Like That, Nylon Has a New Editor-in-Chief

Now that the fashion-designer shakeups have quieted down, we're officially in editorial shuffle season. Between the news that Lucky magazine has ceased its operations and Glenn O'Brien is replacing the departing Kate Lanphear at Maxim, the change-ups have been coming in fast and furious. Today, Nylon announced that it, too, has a brand-new editor-in-chief. Melissa Giannini, who previously served as deputy editor, will step in for departing EIC Michelle Lee. Giannini has been at the publication for a little over three years (a release describes her as a "longtime employee") and previously worked at Spin and Martha Stewart Living.

Lee has been with the magazine for a little over a year and a half. Via email, she told the Cut, "I accepted a position at another company, which will be announced very soon. I've had an amazing time at NYLON and have so much love for everyone here. The staff is incredibly smart and talented, and Melissa will be a fantastic new leader."

Said Nylon CEO Paul Greenberg in a statement from the title, "We're thrilled to have an experienced editor like Melissa move into this role so we can ensure a seamless transition. She is the perfect person for the position, as she fully understands the NYLON brand with her tailored editorial background and time with the company specifically."

Added Giannini, “I am a massive fan of the NYLON brand and a firm believer in its print arm. I am constantly inspired by our dedicated readers' creativity as well as by my incredibly smart, passionate colleagues, and I couldn’t be more excited about all we have planned for 2016 and beyond.”
