When he hasn't been asking Siri about linguica and prepping for his forthcoming pirate role, John Malkovich has been expanding his clothing label, Technobohemian, which he started in 2009 after several years of dabbling in fashion (kimono design, specifically). WWD reports that the actor has struck a deal with online retailer Yoox for a capsule collection, which goes on sale tomorrow. The label's website features the following manifesto:
In the creation of my collections I am inspired by the appearance of a bohemian of the new millen-nium. I thought it was necessary to update the figure of the bohemian but not in the traditional way, it was necessary to make it a cosmopolitan present and fully engaged in the technological world we live in today.
Technobohemian is a phrase I read in a yet unpublished Italian novel. I lift it with the author’s per-mission and I will endevour to use it well.
The seventeen-piece range for Yoox includes swim shorts, shirts, Bermuda shorts, jackets, and accessories, all made in Italy and described thus by Malkovich: "Some pieces are very colorful, others are more understated, but they all feature comfortable fits and are easy to mix and match." Because one's funky ties should still be versatile, of course.
