Janice Dickinson Alleges That She Was 'Sexually Assaulted' By Bill Cosby

Iconic supermodel Janice Dickinson accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her in an interview broadcast on Tuesday. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Dickinson said that the alleged incident occurred when the two met to discuss a potential role for her on "The Cosby Show" back in 1982.

"He gave me wine and a pill. The next morning I woke up, and I wasn't wearing my pajamas, and I remember before I passed out that I had been sexually assaulted by this man," she said.

Dickinson had previously made the assault claims in her 2002 biography, but the tale went relatively unnoticed at the time. This is the first time that she has made public comment about the incident. The 59-year-old former model said she wanted to reveal her story to lend credit to the other women who have spoken out recently against Cosby.

"I'm doing this because it's the right thing to do, and it happened to me, and this is the true story," she said. "I believe all the other women."

Dickinson is the latest in a series of women who have made sexual assault allegations against the 77-year-old comic.

On Sunday, publicist and journalist Joan Tarshis said that Cosby assaulted her twice when she was a young aspiring actress. Last week, artist Barbara Bowman published a powerful essay in the Washington Post detailing similar abuse. Cosby has been accused of sexual abuse for years, but has never been criminally charged. He settled a civil suit with one of his accusers in 2006.

NPR's Weekend Edition pressed Cosby about the rumors in an interview that aired Saturday, but he remained silent. On Sunday, the comedian's lawyer released a statement about the allegations:

Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives." - John P. Schmitt, lawyer for Bill Cosby

Cosby's rep and lawyer did not immediately return requests for comment about Dickinson's claims.
