When we asked the ultra-fashionable Jaime King the obligatory, “Do you have any style regrets?”, we assumed she wouldn’t have a good answer. It’s not like we’ve ever seen her wear anything that’s less than amazing. But she surprised us by saying there’s one dress that she’ll never forget — and not for totally positive reasons!
“I remember my first red carpet. It was for Pearl Harbor, and it was the largest red carpet premiere to-date at the time,” King tells PEOPLE. “I was wearing a beautiful Prada red chiffon dress, and it wasn’t until I stepped out of the car that we realized it was completely see-through!”
No one had realized until just before she was going to hit the red carpet (apparently the lighting in the hotel had been too low to tell). But luckily, someone on her team proved to be very creative and resourceful. “We were in Hawaii and everyone had leis on, so my publicist threw one on to cover my ‘areas.’“
And despite the fact that the result was a festive, locale-appropriate ensemble, King has learned from that mistake. She now takes precautions before stepping out for any big event. In addition to making sure her dresses aren’t see-through, “[I] never go anywhere without double-sided tape, a sewing kit and little safety pins.”
What else does the model-actress make sure to do before heading out the door? She always uses three beauty products: Rembrandt Intense Stain Dissolving Strips, Yves St. Laurent Touche Éclat Foundation and Koh Gen Do Lighting Powder.
