Here's What Men Really Think About Tattoos And Body Piercings

Tattoos and body piercings used to be considered taboo, but not anymore. Today, getting a nipple piercing or septum ring is practically de rigueur and having a tattoo is the new norm. Though many men are jumping on the bandwagon, it seems as though women are the ones who are more apt to get pierced and tatted. Which makes us wonder, what do men think of them? Though it ultimately doesn't matter what anyone thinks of what you do to your body, it's always interesting to hear what society has to say.

To find out, we teamed up with AskMen.com and conducted a survey asking over 1,300 dudes about their thoughts on tattoos and piercings on women. Below, we compiled the results into an infographic created by our own Jess Kane. Scroll all the way to the bottom for our thoughts on the matter.

The results were somewhat surprising. Of the men surveyed, only 32 percent had tattoos of their own and only 13 percent had body piercings, however in both categories, over 50 percent responded that they are attracted to piercings and tattoos on women. In general, men found hip tattoos to be the most attractive and lower back tattoos to be the least attractive. When it came to piercings, a whopping 61 percent of men were most attracted to belly button piercings.

In the comments section of the survey, men sounded off on their thoughts on the matter. Some guys said "pass" on tats and piercings, while others astutely said, "To me, a beautiful person isn't any more or less attractive with or without body modifications." Preach.

The survey was conducted on AskMen.com from Nov. 2- 10, 2015. A total of 1,363 men were surveyed.
