There's another runway model in the Hadid family. 40-year-old fashion designer Alana Hadid, half-sister to Gigi and Bella, made her catwalk debut on Aug. 7, opening for the Saks Potts show during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Wearing an eclectic outfit consisting of a blazer, sequined skirt over jeans, and metallic flip-flops, she walked down the pavement with a confident ease. On Aug. 10, she appeared on the runway again for the Munthe show, modeling a sheer sequin maxi dress and leather black minidress.
Hadid has been in the fashion industry for years - she's the cofounder of LA-based clothing brand La Detresse - but Copenhagen Fashion Week marked her first experience as a model. Though she may be new to the runway, the skill is clearly in her genes. Gigi, Bella, and younger brother Anwar are, of course, Fashion Week regulars. (The three siblings share the same dad, Mohamed Hadid, with sisters Alana and 42-year-old Marielle.)
"I feel like I'm living my life backwards."
In an interview with Vogue, Hadid shared that her modeling debut wasn't actually planned. As a fan of Danish fashion, she was attending Copenhagen Fashion Week as a guest, but once Saks Potts "caught wind" she was coming, the designers asked her to walk in their show. "I was incredibly honored," she said of the moment. "I've loved Saks Potts for a very long time so it was incredibly exhilarating to open for them."
She also expressed excitement for starting her modeling career at 40 years old, a birthday she just recently celebrated in late July. "I feel like I'm living my life backwards, I love it," she told the publication. Gigi showed her support for her sister, commenting, "THIS IS 40 bissshhhh" on a video of Alana at the Munthe show.
