It would be awfully hard for anyone to top Rihanna‘s major style moment at the CFDA Awards Monday, in which she brought traffic to a screeching halt as she hit the red carpet in a completely sheer Adam Selman gown embroidered with hundreds of thousands of Swarovski crystals, plus matching gloves and headscarf and a whole lot of chutzpah.
We thought it would be quite a while before Rih had any challengers to her fashion throne, but as it turns out, it was only a matter of minutes before someone challenged her on her turf. And that someone … is Peter Griffin, the clueless, tubby patriarch of the Fox animated sitcom Family Guy. Griffin was portrayed wearing the same lilac gown, gloves and stole, similar earrings and shoes, and the exact same undergarments (which is to say, none).

And it appears Rihanna wasn’t feeling threatened by Griffin’s style statement, instead choosing to believe that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. “He gets it!” she Tweeted along with a split of the two wearing the same look — then she changed her Twitter profile photo to be Griffin in the gown. (Her Twitter cover photo remains her own rear view, however — she was kind enough to spare us the 180° look at Griffin’s behind.)
