Dancing with the Stars host Erin Andrews has been on a brief hiatus from the show thanks to, oh, you know that other job she has — covering the World Series! And because the host was running on very little sleep (she flew straight from Sunday’s pennant-clinching game to L.A.) she put her entire style and beauty look in the hands of her trusty glam squad — and they’re spilling all the details on her short and sexy look.

“This was a crazy 48 hours for me,” Andrews tells PeopleStyle. “On Sunday night, I was sitting at Citi Field in N.Y.C. covering Game 5 of the World Series. The clinching game went into extra innings, and since the Royals ended the series I had to stay late, do post game interviews and hand out the trophy. I jumped on a plane right after the game and landed in L.A. at 6:00 a.m. Monday morning. Clearly, I wasn’t working on much sleep.”
So this week more than ever, she relied on her team to make every style decision for her. “Thank goodness for my team. I looked at them and said, this is your day. Dress me up, paint my face, and do my hair… it’s all on you,” she shared. “I’m just trying to get my lines right for today’s show.”

And after wearing a fair amount of floor-length dresses this season, she hiked the hem up a notch this week to show off her long stems. “That was a fun change for tonight,” she shares. “My boyfriend was watching back in N.Y.C. and mentioned how great they [her legs] looked … so let’s start doing it more often!”

Her stylist, Alyssa Greene, called the structured velvet Balmain mini a “no-brainer.” “Erin hasn’t really done a look like this before so it was great to get her into something new and fresh,” she says. “Since she missed two shows to be bundled up on the baseball field I felt she should come back with a bang and show off her super-toned legs! I paired the sexy number with strappy Giuseppe Zanotti gold heels that mimicked the lines of the dress to really keep the look fluid. The gold and diamond jewels from Shay were icing on the cake!”
Knowing how tired Andrews was, makeup artist Lisa Ashley was on hand to make her feel as rejuvenated as possible. “Tonight was challenging because Erin went from the ball park to the ballroom! I got a text first thing saying, Please bring eye drops to get the red out.”
Since the dress was short and edgy, Ashley wanted the makeup to reflect the same vibe, starting with an ultra sexy eye. She applied double the lashes and a smoky liner — both angled upward to create an uplifting effect — and accented it all with gold shimmer and shadows by UNUM and Stila (all used wet). She also did a lot of contouring (which Erin calls “Spanx for the face”) with Laura Mercier, Serge Lutens and La Mer treatment Concealer.
