With a new musical direction comes a fresh look, and ever since Dove Cameron reintroduced herself with the debut of "Boyfriend," she's displayed a sultrier, darker sense of style. At the GLAAD Media Awards on May 6, she wore not one but two striking looks that embodied this new era.
Cameron first posed on the red carpet in a strapless black Prada crop top, which she paired with a statement ruffled skirt layered with pink tweed textiles and white tulle from Saint Sintra's fall/winter 2022 collection. With the help of stylist Stephanie Tricola, Cameron added black leather opera gloves and sky-high Amina Muaddi stiletto boots to the ensemble. She then amped up the drama for her "Boyfriend" performance, changing into a black Victorian-inspired ball gown incorporating similar tulle and ruffle details in beige. Underneath the sleek black dress was another voluminous tulle skirt with cage detailing. The singer also swapped her arm-length leather gloves for a sheer, fingerless pair. Finally, a dark, pronounced smoky eye tied both looks together. And with that, Cameron continues to embrace edgy glamour.
The 26-year-old singer shared details of her night at the GLAAD Awards on Instagram, writing "what an incredible evening and deep deep honor it was to open the glaad awards this past weekend. i feel so privileged to have performed my little queer song in the presence of some of the people that i admire most in the whole world."
Since releasing "Boyfriend" earlier this year, Cameron has made many an appearance in edgy styles, including mesh corset tops and all-black suit ensembles. Just last week, the singer stunned at the Met Gala in an intricate skeletal gown by Iris van Herpen, featuring the bones of a Gilded Age gown.
