It may be New York Fashion Week, but our minds are already fast-forwarding to the Emmys (and by Emmys, we obviously mean Emmy dresses). However, while some stars are willing to dish on what they’re wearing, others, to our dismay, are keeping 100% mum. “I can’t say,” Allison Williams tells PEOPLE exclusively at the Diane von Furstenberg show Sunday night when we ask her about her red-carpet wardrobe choice. “For some reason, it’s very hush hush.”
Well, here’s what we can say, then: Williams leaves us no choice but to imagine what we would like her to wear on the red carpet! And with that, here are three dresses that we’ve seen on the runway at NYFW so far that we think would look amazing on the Girls star. (Allison, are you listening?)

Numero uno: the gorgeous burnt-orange Zac Posen dress (top left). For starters, it channels the stunning strapless emerald Oscar de la Renta gown she wore to the Emmys last year for what essentially was her breakout awards-show debut. But the shorter styling on this one gives it a slightly funkier twist, which is fitting for her, as her role on the show she stars in has gotten edgier, too. (Quick reminder: She hooked up with her best friend’s gay ex-boyfriend.)
Next up? The vivid, bright-red Monique Lhuillier gown with lace and cutout details (top middle). We love it for Williams because she’s obviously not afraid of rocking bright colors, and she tends to gravitate toward form-fitting dresses. More bluntly: This dress is made for someone tall and thin, and she’d therefore look completely smokin’ in it.
And finally, because we’ve seen Williams veer away from her typical ladylike-ness and vamp it up in black Joseph Altuzarra, we feel that she’d do it again in this silver dress (top right) by the same designer. Fringe + leg slit = straight sexy. End of story.
We’ll have to wait until the big show rolls around on Sunday, September 22, to find out what Williams actually wears, but until then, tell us: Which of these fresh-off-the-runway dresses would you like to see Williams wear?
