When one little girl with alopecia lamented to her parents that she didn’t feel beautiful, her doting father jumped into action.
In a moving Facebook post, Chelsea Sylvaria recalled a conversation with her young daughter Riley, in which the little girl said, “I don’t love myself because I don’t have hair.” And she praised her husband for what he did next.
“You want daddy to shave his head?” Dave asked his daughter — she replied with a nod. “Want me to do it right now? Okay, let’s go.”
With that, the daddy-daughter duo headed to the bathroom where little Riley helped her dad shave his head. In footage of the event, Riley lent a hand with Dave’s shaver before looking at her father adoringly as he finished the job.
“I’ll keep it just like this. You know why? Because it’s just hair, kiddo. It doesn’t matter,” Dave is heard saying in the video. “All gone! We’ll get it nice and short just like Riley’s! Nice and bald!”
The footage has amassed more than 600,000 views and nearly 5,000 shares on Facebook.
Sylvaria praised her husband in the Facebook post, writing that the display made her “heart just melt.”
“Riley is currently over being upset about having no hair, minor bump in the road of life,” the proud mother wrote.
She added in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page: “We want her to know it’s ok to sometimes get upset, but that she is strong and beautiful — no matter what!”
