It is a known fact that female shoppers gravitate toward the gleam — sometimes it's just more fun to look at a shiny gold cuff or put on a pair of silver metallic brogues. But even preferred shades of gold and silver can feel tired after heavy reliance, so when lustrous shades of pink, sapphire, and red hit the spring runways of Burberry Prorsum, Derek Lam, and Jonathan Saunders, our search for something that would pack some punch into an outfit was over. As with traditional metallics, the key to successfully pulling off these shades is moderation. We'd like to see Topshop's shimmering baby blue skirt with a white button-down blouse, or a black skinny pant finished off with the ASOS metallic mint green loafers. And if you're not sure the trend is for you, dip your toe in with gleaming accent pieces like J.Crew's rose-gold belt, Gypsy Sport's purple hat, or nail lacquer from Sephora by O.P.I.
