The CMT Artists of the Year Awards took place on Oct. 12, held in the country music capital: Nashville. And with some of the country music greats in attendance, there were certainly some daring looks that stood out from the rest. Case in point? Ciara. Choosing a lace-inlaid, bustier-style dress, the 36-year-old singer had jaws dropping to the floor as she graced the red carpet in her latest sultry look.
Ciara's gown was straight out of David Koma's resort 2023 collection. Alongside an all-black color palette, it featured a boned, corseted top with tank straps and an off-the-shoulder layer to create somewhat of a cold-shoulder effect. On her arms were matching opera-length gloves. The torso, while boned in the front and chest, was cut out at the waist and hips to lean into that skin-baring trend that has been taking hold this year. The bottom, though opaque black, also boasted an up-to-there slit on her left leg.
This is certainly not the first time that Ciara has opted for a late-'90s- or early-aughts-inspired outfit. In September, she was spotted in New York City wearing a sleeveless zip-front leather jumpsuit of her own design, with platform Celine shoes and stacks of gold bracelets on each wrist. And only a few weeks ago, she was seen in Los Angeles in another black leather look, though this time it came in the form of an off-the-shoulder black coat dress, matching gloves, and dark shades. Though she's embracing a darker color palette as of late, this summer, she also tried her hand at the neon swimsuit trend that has resurfaced lately and, of course, nailed it.
