Sky Codes for December 13 to December 20
You can blame any holiday funk you might be feeling on gloomy Saturn’s journey through Sagittarius. However, Monday’s shimmying square between the exuberant sun and jovial Jupiter is what the world needs the week after Hanukkah and before Christmas and Kwanzaa, and you will soon feel the season's joy. Don’t damper that energy with cynicism or fretting about the bottom line. It won’t help you. Life is about more than net gains and losses. If the bottom’s gone out from under you recently, then realize that faith in the generosity of something larger than yourself is what can see you through. You could even call that something by a more familiar name if you can’t think of anything else: tomorrow.
Don’t get too carried away with the buoyancy of the sun and Jupiter square, though. There’s a tendency to promise more than can be delivered when these two hook up like this. This applies to both your appetite and your alcohol tolerance. So you might need to turn down that extra toast for a fool at the holiday party who you know is not a jolly good fellow. And keep that enthusiasm within limits when checking bids and proposals that land on your desk. Chances are these are inflated. When it comes to gift giving, be generous, skip any thoughts of a credit increase or maxing your cards out. You can do it without putting your financial stability at risk.
The planetary weather report: Use these guidelines to unlock the stars, not to be locked down by them.
This week’s first-quarter moon will put a fire under our collective butts to get more in the holiday spirit, even if that just means doing the work that needs to be done so you can sit on your duff for the holidays. If you have trouble figuring our where to put your attention, count on the laserlike insights of shrewd Mercury tied at the hip with penetrating Pluto by conjunction on Saturday to guide you along. Once you've pinpointed problems, use the thinking power of Mercury to spark new ideas and tacks when he teams up with groundbreaking Uranus on Sunday. You’ll be laying the foundation for an exciting holiday week ahead.
Read on for your sign’s Sky Code.
Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)
As you come up on the last full week of your birthday season, that fire I mentioned above goes into overdrive for you — energy abounds. Flocks of freaking excellent ideas have crossed your mind in 2015 and even more are bound to land your way in 2016. But: You have to figure out a better way to follow through on at least 2 percent of them. (We are all grateful that you do not act on more of those ideas. The world ain’t ready!) The penetrating and innovative powers of Mercury with Pluto and Uranus this weekend should help with that.
Capricorn (December 22 to January 20)
If you’ve been anxious about how you are going to forge a path and move forward, especially with your career, the exultant sun and faithful Jupiter will show you the way. You’ve learned as much as you’re going to learn from experience. Experience is, indeed, a great teacher. However, if you rely on it too much, it also can be a great pain in the ass. It’s time to seek out new ideas and lean on something you don’t rely on enough — faith! It’s okay if all you have is faith in yourself.
Aquarius (January 21 to February 18)
As you come back to center with your own needs, you might notice that your wallet and bank account also need attention. Use the grind of this first-quarter moon to get a grip on where you’ve been leaking money. However, don’t avoid checking into what’s happening with your cash flow because it offends your self-image as easygoing or nice. Take a look at your accounts and note anyone who owes you — now is the time to ask for at least some of it. There’s a fine line between being nice and a mark.
Pisces (February 19 to March 20)
You can use the rubber-band stretch between the confident sun and wise Jupiter to keep rolling by the seat of your pants, if you want. That works best when you’re fully present and focused. However, the moment that your ego starts wheeling and dealing about the future with certainty is the moment stuff comes crashing down. The better use of that sun-Jupiter stretch-a-thon is to engage in activities that grow your faith and compassion for people. Whatever you’re doing, be grateful, even if it seems shitty in the moment. The powers of your gratitude will seep into the lives of others, sharing more joy and competency than you might expect.
Aries (March 21 to April 19)
Although first-quarter moons usually suggest that everyone gets off their behinds to get stuff done, your problem isn’t achievement. Here's what your problem is, though: The tense square between the vain sun and grandiose Jupiter means that your head, heart, and hands aren’t on the same page. You’re likely doing something, small or grand, to make the world a better place. However, perhaps what you’re doing is not appreciated, and you feel salty about it. Cheer your heart and get your ego in check. Recognition isn’t everything and certainly can’t be the reason you do the good you do.
Taurus (April 20 to May 21)
Although you’re likely calmer than last week, you might still be dreaming of far-off places or escaping the drudgery of life, even during the holidays, Taurus. Just like politicians maintain a “war chest” for their campaigns, you might need to start a “pleasure chest” to lighten your load. You can “store” events, small or even a little bigger, in your pleasure chest to relieve pressure now, like a jaunt to your fave spa or restaurant. However, you can also start saving up cash to pull bigger things out of your pleasure chest later, perhaps around your birthday.
Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
The cosmos is still prodding you to be judicious with your time and energy. The celestial contest between effervescent sun and outgoing Jupiter will have you in high demand, but you might not have either the energy or ability to be in as many places you’re requested. Yes, you are born under the sign of the twins, but there is still only one of you! The solution is simple, though you might not like it: You’re going to have to sit some things out. No sense wearing yourself down a week before the holidays all in the name of being “nice.”
Cancer (June 21 to July 21)
Pare down to peer ahead and proceed with your career goals. "Proceed" is the key word here, because the amped sun’s square off with extravagant Jupiter could have you talking more about what you’re going to do than doing it. Pare down your to-do list. If any day during the week has more than ten tasks, cut the list in half. Accomplishment can be simple when matched with equally simple goals and means. Spreading yourself too thin dilutes the effectiveness of your awesome sauce.
Leo (July 22 to August 21)
Negotiation might not be your favorite thing to do, but it will be the most effective and necessary thing for you to be doing this week. You’ll likely have to face a few situations where there isn’t enough of something, like people, money, or time to do what you want. A tantrum won’t help, nor will bluffing. Instead, bargain calmly, be open to compromise, and if you have to, envision how you can have as much fun or as many feelings of accomplishment as you desire with less. Your holiday party can survive without those exact wine glasses you wanted. In fact, with a positive attitude, you might even dream up something much better.
Virgo (August 22 to September 21)
Many wealth-building experts say that the secret to having more starts by focusing on what you have in abundance rather than what’s scarce. Gratitude leads to greatness. Use the edgy relationship between generous Jupiter and the high-spirited sun now to focus on what you have in abundance now. The material rewards could well be in store. A helpful aspect is the conjunction between keen Mercury and perceptive Pluto making your already-formidable powers of precise problem-solving even sharper.
Libra (September 22 to October 21)
Your wit can be savage when you’re stirred to wrath or saddled with abject boredom, Libra, and you might not realize how people feel when they’re at the pointy edge of one of your jabs. Take time to quiet your mind, especially toward the top of the week. It will go a long way toward preventing you from going on a tear at the wrong time at the wrong social event. It’s also possible that you’re holding on to hurt feelings for something you should just let go.
Scorpio (October 22 to November 21)
Once your mind is set on something you want, it’s very hard for you to think about NOT getting it. It doesn’t even matter if what you want is batshit insane to get or whether you even know that in advance. The getting, for you, can feel like everything until, of course, there’s something else to get down the line. Consider this, then: Are you settling for low-hanging fruit in getting what you want when instead you could have the whole tree and all its fruit? Chances are you’re not seeing the bigger picture. Look closer.
