Aretha Franklin is undoubtedly the "Queen of Soul." Her influence can be heard in the voices of singers all over the world (Patti LaBelle, Beyoncé and Mariah Carey are just a few chart-toppers who list Franklin as an inspiration), and many of her songs, including "Respect" and "Chain Of Fools," have become anthems.
In celebration of her 71st birthday (on Mar. 25), we are taking a look back at a vintage photo of the star. In this snapshot, Franklin is seen meeting with music producer Jerry Wexler, an industry heavy-hitter who subsequently changed her career and helped turn her into the icon she has become today. Her high-waisted jeans are a clear indicator of the decade (the '60s to be exact), as is her floral crop top. Few can make a turban look chic, but Aretha has enough charisma to pull it off. That's what makes her so stylish: No matter what she's wearing, she looks comfortable and natural... like a natural woman.
