Amy Adams is gorgeous enough to catch Superman’s eye in her role as Lois Lane in Man of Steel, but the star has superhuman powers of self-deprecation in real life.
“I’ve wanted to be in a superhero movie, and this was my best chance — as some mere mortal,” she says in Allure‘s July issue. “Let’s be real here. I don’t look that good in Lycra. I do all right, but I hadn’t anticipated that I was ever going to be cast as the girl in Lycra looking hot.”
She goes on to joke about her refusal to adhere to Hollywood’s super-strict diets and exercise routines, saying, “I just don’t see the point. I’m just not going to be one of those people photographed in a bikini where people are like, ‘OMG, look at Amy!’ I mean, it might be OMG, but not for the reasons I want.”

Despite what she may say, the star looks awfully sexy in her photoshoot for the magazine (below), which highlights her famous red tresses and lovely face — about which she cracks another joke. “I have no features without make-up. I am pale. I have blonde lashes,” she says, though she sees the bright side: “You could just paint my face; it’s like a blank canvas. It can be great for what I do.”
