Designer Virgil Abloh of cult fashion label Off-White is the king of cool in the fashion world, with a close circle of friends that includes It girls like Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid. So when news broke that he would be teaming up with luxury shoe brand Jimmy Choo on a spring collection, the fashion universe went wild.
Abloh debuted the 9 shoe silhouettes during his Spring 2018 Paris runway show in which he celebrated the life and style of the late Diana, Princess of Wales (and sent a People-inspired clutch down the runway!). Inspired by her signature nineties-era fashion, Abloh’s ready-to-wear runway styles were complemented by elegant Jimmy Choo shoe designs comprised of conceptual plastics, tulles and bold floral prints. “Creative dreams were fulfilled when able to combine the young exuberance of Off-White and the storied elegance of Jimmy Choo,” said Abloh in an official press release.
About fifteen seconds later, Rihanna stepped out wearing a pair of the brand’s plastic-wrapped heels, and soon, celebrities couldn’t get their hands on a pair fast enough.
The collection, which officially launched this week, has already been worn for months by stylish stars such as Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Hailey Baldwin and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (to name a few).
